Year is one of the most celebrated festivals in the modern world. This year
students in USTC celebrated New Year in a grand way. Students from different
corners of the globe performed exotic dances, bilingual group singing, Chinese
folk music, Beijing Opera, stage drama etc.; to commemorate the event.
This year New Year Party
2017 theme was “USTC Beacon for Diversity”. This big event was organized by
Foreign Students’ Association (FSA) with the cooperation of Office of
International Cooperation (OIC) on the beautiful evening of 30th December, 2016
at USTC West Campus auditorium. This wonderful activity was witnessed by a crowded
Chinese and foreign students, along with some of their supervisors, teachers
and Director International office. This party was illustrious for diversity and
great cultural celebration.
The party started at 7:00
pm with the speech of Director international Office Jiang Jia Jie where he
applauded the FSA efforts to arrange such a brilliant and outstanding event for
all foreign students. He insisted foreign students to work harder, obey Chinese
rules and cherish every moment at USTC.
On behalf of all foreign
students, President Foreign Students’ Association, Munir Ullah Khan paid thanks
to all teachers from international office and FSA management team for
organizing such an incredible event. He said goodbye to 2016 and expressed his
best wishes for New Year 2017. In his speech he mentioned that USTC is full of
diversity and yes we, the foreign students, are diverse but united and we must
join hands for the noble cause of research and academic improvement. He asserted to hold and enrich the bond of
unity, diversity and achievements.
has been striving hard to publicize its academic and research programs and
enroll more brilliant foreign students for cultivating top class research. This
time, three foreign students of USTC won the 2016 " Chinese Government
Outstanding International Student Scholarship". These foreign students
include Abhishek Narayan Mondal (India) and Munir Ullah Khan (Pakistan) both
are from the School of Chemistry and Materials Science and Yen Yat (Cambodia)
from School of Public Affairs. They were present at the party site to share the
joy of winning this award with audience.
