USTC welcomes 2020 new international students |

Summer
ends with the refreshing winds and rains of autumn. In the special period of
post-pandemic control, USTC successfully welcomed the first batch of 2020 new
international students. On 1st September, 74 new international
students who have been staying inside China arrived at the East campus of USTC
and completed their registration with the help of Chinese and foreign volunteers,
working staffs from International College, Campus Security Department and USTC
hospital.

To welcome new international students under the complicated situation of epidemic control, International College have made full and all-around preparation, only to ensure that USTC can welcome its new foreign students in a safe and well-organized way. Meetings were held to devise two plans for online and offline registration by dividing new students into different batches based on the risk level of their current location. QQ chat groups specifically targeting at the new international students were established for faster and more convenient communication. A strong and efficient health track system was set up to allow our new students to report their locations, contact history, health condition, travel trajectory as well as their travel plan and expected date of arrival at Hefei. Moreover, international college kept close contact with local police stations, physical examination center and exit & entry bureau to arrange fast services for residence permit, checkup and visa for our international students group. Other registration related issues, including arranging on-campus dormitory, opening bank accounts, arranging Chinese language and culture courses were all under careful management. |

On September 2, the day after new student’s registration, International College guided new students to do checkup and open bank account. The fast service channel arranged in advance and the warm assistance of Chinese and foreign volunteers were really helpful. New students were happy with the warm service that international college arranged for them. |

|
On September 4, Foreign Students Association (FSA) under the supervision of ISO organized an excellent campus tour for 2020 new international students. Bright sunshine and light breeze in the morning made the interactions between seniors and juniors relaxing. Volunteers from FSA showed new students around USTC campuses. They visited the peaceful lake in west campus, the cherry tree avenue in east campus as well as office buildings and labs in both campuses. It is of no doubt that our new students gradually immersed themselves into USTC attractive campus culture. |

The first week of new international students ended successfully with happy smiles on their faces. Wish them good luck and enjoy the wonderful life at USTC. |
